I'm an Iowa State fan and as an Iowa State fan there are a few things that I take pride in. I take pride in that we don't call for the heads of our coaches after every loss, Ames isn't Little Chicago, and we don't have bandwagon fans.

With victories in the last 2 Cy-Hawk Football games, will ISU become the state of Iowa's bandwagon team? Sure, Iowa State doesn't have the history of success that the Hawkeyes have but Iowa State has recently dominated accross men's sports, minus wrestling of course. Recent success is sure to catch the attention of those without personal ties to either university and so it seems that the current bandwagon is driving on a flat tire and is one UNI loss away from complete destruction.

I think we can all agree, Iowa is the bandwagon team in the state. I'm not saying that you have to be a student or be a graduate of a certian university in order to cheer for their athletic teams, but what I have found is that the most annoying fans have been of the bandwagon variety.

I was in Iowa City on the Friday before the game, wearing an ISU shirt, and was told multiple times, "Hey Asshole, go back to Ames." I found that chicks were the worst and their typical line was "Wow thats an ugly shirt! Why are you wearing that?" I would explain to them that I'm an ISU student and without skipping a beat they would reply "Ohh, thats unfortunate." Now I know I shouldn't let a drunk Kirkwood Eagle annoy me, but if we keep winning, are those drunk idiots going to be cheering for ISU?

One of the reasons I love tailgating at Jack Trice is because Iowa State fans have a sense of class and are down-to-earth good people. I would never deny an Iowa State fan a burger or beer at my tailgate parties and I can say this because we don't have the bandwagon fanbase that Iowa has. I love beating the Hawkeyes; the best sound I have never heard is a Hawkeye Fan's silence after a loss to Iowa State. With that said, if we keep winning, I fear that there will be a shift in obnoxious asshole allegiences in the state of Iowa. So what's worse, ISU Bandwagon fans or ISU losses? Someone better start writing a training manual, "I'm a Cyclone, and SO CAN YOU!"
