Countdown to Kickoff: Day 89

One thing Paul Rhoads will have to do to take Iowa State out of the lower half of the Big XII and into a consistent winner and occasional conference challenger is recruit better athletes. Everywhere you look teams that are finishing in the Top 25 have athletes at nearly every position. Our neighbors to the east are known for taking high school quarterbacks and turning them into starts elsewhere on the field (ex: Marvin McNutt). Coach Rhoads is trying exactly that and here are highlights of two 2012 prospects: Grant Rohach and Luke Knott.

If either sounds familiar, it's because they should. Rohach is an Elite 11 quarterback who is starting to make a name for himself on the camp circuit and Luke Knott is the younger brother of star linebacker, Jake Knott. With more of these guys making their way on to campus it should be only a matter of time until Rhoads' coaching acumen starts to mesh with his talent on the field.
