Iowa State Cyclones guard Chris Babb has been suspended for the first three games of the season. Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg says it's for a violation of team rules, but wouldn't elaborate. He'll miss an exhibition against Minnesota State and the first two regular season games against Southern and Alabama A&M.
Babb averaged 7.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest last season. He's also considered one of the best defenders in the country.
Babb will have to pick up the scoring slack this season. Iowa State's top three scorers, Royce White, Scott Christopherson and Chris Allen have all departed. Between the three of them, they averaged nearly 38 points a game, over half of the team's average scoring output.
The Cyclones have added two transfers to try and pick up where White, Christopherson and Allen left off. Utah transfer Will Clyburn and Michigan State transfer Korie Lucious are eligible after sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules.
