The Mid-Morning Dump - 12/17/12

NOT A REPEAT OF LAST YEAR. Iowa State beat Drake 86-77 at Wells Fargo in the Big Four Classic. Melvin Ejim led all scorers with 21.

IMPROVING THE BIG FOUR CLASSIC. Bobby La Gesse says it was a good start, but plenty more improvements can be made.

NO SJ. Shontrelle Johnson will be out for the bowl game after injuring his knee in practice. Paul Rhoads didn't comment too much on the severity of the injury, but Shontrelle will require surgery so it may affect his status next season as well.

MESS SCOUTS TULSA. Our offensive coordinator scouts Tulsa, which I imagine means that he'll see lots of slow developing run plays from the end zone as the Golden Hurricane's weakness.

WIMBERLY DOESN'T LIKE FORT WORTH. Top JUCO RB commit Aaron Wimberly from Iowa Western got off the plane from his visit to TCU and immediately announced that he was sticking with the Cyclones.

FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON. Wrestling got its first dual victory by coming back against North Dakota State.

WHATIFSPORTS SIMS THE BOWLS. We win because Steele Jantz leads us to victory! Maybe they just know something we don't.

ARIZONA RISING. If you didn't catch the beginning of bowl season, you missed a ridiculously entertaining game between Arizona and New Mexico.

FSU HIRES A DC. It is Jeremy Pruitt, defensive backs coach for Alabama. Why should this interest you as a Cyclone fan? It means Wally Burnham is out of the running.

KLIFF'S ALREADY POPULAR. In his introductory press conference, Kingsbury lays out the challenge to Cincinnati and downplays his time at A&M.

BIG EAST EXIT. The seven basketball playing schools are officially out of the Big East.
