The Mid-Morning Dump - 12/18/12

Ubben looks back at the recruiting analysis of the All-Big XII Defense, Ejim wins player of the week, and more.

TELL US HOW YOU REALLY FEEL. David Ubben posts the Scout and ESPN write-ups of the All-Big XII defense which includes Jake Knott and A.J. Klein. The best line of the whole thing for me was this piece about Klein:

Makes sound reads and flashes good initial quicks pursuing the football. Shows above average fluidity sifting through the wash, but is more effective pursuing and attacking vertically. Lacks great sideline-to-sideline speed but flashes above average burst in the short-area and closes strong when tracking down the football.

Ask Collin Klein how that sideline-to-sideline speed is.

PUNTS PUNTS PUNTS EVERYBODY! Our buddy Kirk Haaland has his breakdown of punt percentages and how it affects Iowa State's, and Kirby Van Der Kamp's, perception nationally. Good stuff here.

EJIM GETS HONORS. Despite his whiteness on an alley-oop attempt early against Drake, Melvin Ejim rebounded (literally) his way into the Big XII Player of the Week honors.

GADSON TOO. Iowa State's 197 pounder Kyven Gadson was instrumental in ISU's comeback victory over North Dakota State on Sunday, and was named Big XII Wrestler of the Week as a reward.

WOMEN BEAT UNI AGAIN. Bill Fennelly takes him team into Cedar Falls and comes away with a 67-59 victory over the Panthers for their tenth straight victory in the series.

KANSAS CITY MEMORIES. In preparation of Wednesday night's tilt against UMKC, has a write up about significant Cyclone moments in historic Kansas City Municipal Auditorium. This concept of holiday conference tournaments intrigues me.

DAMN YOU NIU. Ubben is up to his old tricks and thinks NIU would have the potential to beat Iowa State given both teams' performance vs Iowa.
