The Iowa State athletics department announced that today's game against UNC-Wilmington is a sell out as the Cyclones tip off the fourth year of the Fred Hoiberg era. We've got all of the vital game day information you need and look forward to you stopping by and sharing your thoughts on today's game.
Game Info
Tip: 12:00 PM CST
Radio: Cyclone Radio Network
TV: This one is going to be available for you poor saps that have Mediacom. I have Direct TV, so I have no clue what channel you can find the game on. Cyclones.com has you covered though.
Webcast: Available via Cyclones.TV. If you haven't ponied up for this yet, what are you thinking? And you call yourself a fan...
The Sacrifice Opponent: UNC-Wilmington concludes their midwest barnstorming tour in Ames after getting waxed by Iowa on Friday night. The Seahawks trailed Mad Fran's Hawkeyes 48-12 at half time on Friday and looked overmatched in an 82-39 loss. Wilmington shot 16-72 for the game (that's 22.2% for those who don't have a calculator handy) and built a brick house with their 2-23 performance from outside.
The Series: Cyclones.com notes that Iowa State and UNCW have never played before, but DeAndre Kane did play twice against the Seahawks while at Marshall, averaging 17.5 points, 4 rebounds and 2.5 assists and a 2-0 record.
The Starting Line Up: We know that Melvin Ejim is going to miss this game and at least a few more, so the Cyclones are going super small, starting forwards Georges Niang and Dustin Hogue, while going with Kane, Matt Thomas and Naz Long in the back court. Niang will be the only guy in the line up who's started a game for Iowa State and Thomas and Hogue will be registering their first D1 action.
As always, we encourage...well, everything...but please do not share any illegal streams of the game and try to enjoy this. After all, this is Hoiball, which is supposed to be fun. Football season is almost over, so cheer up and enjoy the game.
