The Mid-Morning Dump - 12/19/13

WE'RE AWESOME! Iowa State, pushing for gender equality in basketball excellence.

SPREADING THE WEALTH. No school has ever had five different team members honored as Big 12 players of the week, though Iowa State already has four in six weeks.

A REAL STAR. Dustin Hogue was expected to only be a role player, but the Big 12's leading rebounder is turning into a star.

OLD SCHOOL. Georges Niang uses the jump hook with extremely good results.

SURFIN' ISU. Iowa State players want to catch some waves in addition to bringing home a Diamondhead Classic title from Hawaii.

BIT SKETCHY HERE. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune has a fascinating read on one of Rashad Vaughn's alleged handlers.

BIG MID-YEAR SIGNEES. The Cyclones signed four JUCOs who will enroll for the spring semester, with all looking for (and will probably get) a lot of early playing time.

ANOTHER JUCO TOO. DE Dale Pierson has committed to the Cyclones over California and Illinois.

DEPARTURES. Iowa State is losing defensive lineman as reserve Austin Krick is leaving the program, while starter Brandon Jensen is unsure if he'll return in 2014.

ANOTHER HONOR FOR HAHN. Kristen Hahn was named an AVCA 2nd team All-American.

THIS IS SO TEXAS. Steve Patterson announced Texas would use an eight man panel to find their next coach.

WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS AGAIN? The view from the top of Sochi's ski jump is terrifying.

EVEN CRAZIER. To one up the ski jumper, you have this guy in a wingsuit, just several feet above the ground.
