Week 9 Open Thread

Yay for bye weeks!

Scott Halleran

And it's Thursday night.  The time of the week when major college football starts back up, and we all prepare to sit in silence, drinking, and posting on a blog while we watch.

Tonight features what should be an absolute bloodbath between #18 ECU and a horrific UConn squad, as well as a more even matched and potentially interesting ACC matchup between VA Tech and Miami.

Around the Big 12 we have to compelling matchups as the surging Longhorns head to Manhattan to attempt and play spoiler for the playoff-minded KSU Snydercats.  In the best conference game of the weekend, we see WVU travel to OSU in a match up that should really be a bit of a litmus test as to whose these respective squads are at this juncture.  OSU seems to be trending down, and WVU is obviously trending up, looking the part of a Big 12 title contender.  TCU will be inserting its fist so far up Tech's anus that Gary Patterson will pick the Swag out of Kliff Kingsbury's teeth.

Nationally, we only have two matchups featuring a pair of ranked teams as LSU and Ole Miss square off in a nightmare game for SEC haters as Ole Miss will likely stay in the Top 5 with a loss, while LSU would be thrown back into the Top 10 because SECSECSEC.  So go Fighting Admiral Ackbars.  The other is another chance to see if a surprising Utah squad is for real as they take on the "ok, maybe we aren't going to suck this year" USC Trojans.

Sit down, grab a cold one, and as always, GO STATE!
