Bye's going to kill us.

Cooper Neill

Welcome to Week 12.  With ISU officially without any hope for this season, and basically the next 7 years (or however long Pollard will stubbornly cling to Rhoads' massive extension), we can all turn our attention to the rest of the college football landscape.

Around the Big 12 we have a very boring weekend as TCU tries to put 100 up on KU, OU takes out their frustrations on Tech, and Texas and OSU square off in what's probably the week's most interesting Big 12 game.  The upward trending 'Horns take on the downward trending Pokes, in a match up that seems to be as much about long-term program momentum as anything else.

Nationally, we have an absolute whale as Mississippi State gets far and away their biggest test as they travel to Tuscaloosa to take on a Bama squad that was basically gifted a continued shot at the playoffs.  If MSU wins, Bama is likely (for now) on the outside looking in, and the SEC's hopes of getting 2 teams into the playoff will be greatly reduced, and at best, out of their hands.  If Bama wins, the circle jerk will be at fever pitch.

There are a few other intriguing match ups around the Top 25 as Ohio State heads to Minnesota for what is, without question, the biggest game in the history of TCF Bank Stadium.  A win over OSU would be huge for a surging Minnesota program looking to establish itself as a legitimate Big 10 power, and would also be a huge blow to the league's already slim playoff hopes.  Auburn and Georgia face off in what has all the makings of a classic Mark Richt bedwetting.  Nebraska and Wisconsin face off in the battle of completely identical uniforms and Clemson and Georgia Tech take the honors of playing the least compelling Top 25 match up of the year.

Thank 3sus that basketball officially starts tomorrow night.  As always, GO STATE.
