West Virginia SBN Blog: The Smoking Musket

West Virginia comes in to Ames tonight looking for the win that gets them into serious NCAA Tournament discussion and the Cyclones are looking to avenge the loss in Morgantown and put together their longest Big XII win streak this season at four games.

Last time out DeAndre Kane struggled with the West Virginia crowd but will be playing his second to last home game along with senior Melvin Ejim. In the first meeting the Mountaineers were ridiculously hot from behind the arc, shooting at a 59% clip while Iowa State shot just 17%, which made for a startling 27 point deficit from deep in a 25 point blowout loss.

Seeding for the Big XII tournament is big with four teams vying for the 2nd seed and Iowa State needs to win games like this at home to keep their options open come tournament time.

Grab a brew and settle in for what should be a back and forth contest.
