The long awaited debut of Mark Mangino happens tomorrow on what is potentially going to be a wet and sloppy field. The Iowa State turf management group is going to earn their keep this weekend but no doubt the field will be in as best of shape as possible (this isn't Kinnick after all).
Sam Richardson takes the reins of the offense again and has a slew of weapons to sling to with the return of Quenton Bundrage, E.J. Bibbs, and Jarvis West. The running game will have to take hold for the Cyclones to really assert their will on the Bison, but DeVondrick Nealy and Aaron Wimberly will be running behind an experienced and healthy offensive line.
They Cyclone defense will be matching up against a young Bison offensive line and that can't hurt with the only returning starters being Cory Morrissey and Brandon Jensen. The safety spot is young but will be supported by an experienced linebacker group led by... let's just say Alton Meeks... mmmk?
Iowa State can't suffer a second straight season opening loss to an FCS opponent and have devoted their focus to the Bison and coming out of Saturday 1-0.
The return of football brings the highs and lows one can only experience being an Iowa State fan, but there's no better place to share those highs and lows than right below. So strap it on and get to it!
