ISU vs. TCU - GameThread

Is it just me, or does Iowa State's victory over Texas on Monday feel like it was a longgggggg time ago? We've had plenty of time as a fanbase to analyze, re-analyze and over-analyze the monstrous Texas comeback that had all Cyclone fans reaching for their I-State branded nut cups... At least the cliché "a win's a win" once again rings true, especially in a game that would have cut off the head of ISU's remaining conference championship hopes.

The TCU Horned Frogs return today to the place that this happened. That's right, Horny Frogs, you let a Canadian bully you into giving up the individual conference scoring record. In case you haven't heard, we have yet another player this year that likes catching lob passes for dunks in Jameel McKay. You can find him on the SportsCenter top 10 every night, and you can catch a couple of his highlights below:

Since cylentbutdeadly had Melvin Ejim do most of the talking in this week's edition of "We're Talking TCU", the only link I'll include today is to Kirk Haaland's enCYCLONEpedia: Iowa State vs. TCU preview.

The Frogs are led by senior guard Kyan Anderson, who averages a team high 13.9 points per game and 3.8 assists per game. Anderson is joined in the backcourt by heralded senior transfer Trey Zeigler. Zeigler opened up Big 12 play with 17 and 19 point games against West Virginia and Kansas State, respectively. Despite averaging the second most points per game on the team, Zeigler has only attempted five 3-pointers all season long, and has connected on exactly zero of them.

As a team, the most notable thing about TCU is that they are a terrible free throw shooting team. You thought ISU could use some work? The Cyclones currently sport a 69.2 free throw percentage, while the Frogs shoot an ugly 60.9 percent from the charity stripe. Now that I've mentioned this, expect TCU to approach perfection on their freebies today.

Prediction

Is the game at Hilton Coliseum? Yes. Well there you have it folks...

But really, Iowa State needs to take care of business at home today and not look forward to Monday's trip to Lawrence to take on the first place Jayhawks. This Horned Frogs team is a much better product than the pushovers from the last two years. I expect Iowa State to exploit mismatches and let their talent ride them to victory in this one - a nice serving of Hoiball, if you will. Georges Niang to Jameel McKay lobs should be aplenty.
