The Preview
ISU Offense vs TCU Defense: Advantage, Baylor. Unlike the past few years, Baylor's defense is about as good as their offense. In other words, really good.
TCU Offense vs Iowa State Defense: Advantage, Baylor. DUH.
Special Teams: Advantage, Baylor. Any team who rarely punts will always have a leg up on special teams.
Trolling Baylor Iowa State
Oh, the celebrations that will be had by Baylor in the rain.
Prediction
When it rains, it pours.
Iowa State is all of a sudden dealing with some notable injuries, as Allen Lazard, Kamari Cotton-Moya, Jhaustin Thomas and Trent Taylor are all questionable for the game today. Lazard is currently nursing a shoulder injury and Cotton-Moya went down with what is believed to be a torn hamstring at practice on Wednesday.
WRNL's sources say Lazard should be healed up and playing by next week (if he doesn't decide to go today), but Cotton-Moya's setback could sideline him for an extended period of time - possibly the remainder of the season. His official timeframe for return has yet to be determined.
Knowing the guys just mentioned will probably be sitting out today... Prepare for an ugly, ugly game against the high-powered Baylor Bears. Heavy rain in the forecast could hinder the Bears' offensive attack, but it certainly won't help Iowa State's inconsistent offense either.
My preseason pick doesn't give enough credit to Baylor's ability to score, but I'll stick with it for now and hope the torrential downpour will slow them down.
