On This Day in Sports History
Iowa State Basketball
X-FACTOR. You could argue that a number of guys are Iowa State's "x-factor" going into tonight's showdown with Iowa. Uncle Randy says look no further than Jameel McKay, who gets his first and only crack at the Hawkeyes.
FEEDING THE MASSES. Students camped outside of Hilton Coliseum are at least being properly nourished.
BATTLE ON THE BLOCK. Travis Hines says two key matchups could decide tonight's game, and they ain't guards.
HAALAND CY-HAWK PREVIEW. Always a good read from our pal Kirk—for any game really.
BILAS PLAY BY PLAY. Jay Bilas took to Twitter to call last night's ISU-Iowa managers game and did not disappoint.
ROME (AND PROHM) ARE BURNING. Steve Prohm made an appearance on the Jim Rome Show yesterday. Listen here.
THE LONG WAY HOME. You need to read Max Dible's longform on the life of Naz Mitrou-Long.
Iowa State Football
AWARD WINNERS. Mike Warren was named Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year yesterday, while Demond Tucker picked up Defensive Newcomer honors. And they weren't the only one receiving accolades.
MINIMUM WAGES. Iowa State's assistant coaching staff was the lowest paid in the Big 12 in 2015, coming in at 51st nationally.
PROBABLY A GOOD MOVE. Former Iowa State CB Leonard Johnson was signed by the New England Patriots after being released from Tampa Bay's IR last week. Johnson had spent his entire career with the Buccaneers.
Around The Country

JUST LOOK AT THE ACTUAL CLOCK. The Izzone has always been good at prematurely counting down opponents' shot clocks. Maryland Eastern Shore fell victim to it five times last night.
WELL, IT COULD CERTAINLY BE WORSE. The officiating crew for the National Championship will come from the Pac-12.
KING'S REIGN. This would be a shocking decision.

BEST LOOPHOLE EVER. Jim Boeheim isn't allowed to talk to assistant coaches during his nine-game NCAA suspension... but they can still listen to him.
WE KNOW HOW THIS ENDS. ESPN ranked college football's easiest to toughest recruiting jobs from 1-65.
COACHES ARE DANCING AGAIN. Today's installment of "coaches dancing" features Miami's Jim Larranaga, after the Hurricanes defeated Florida 66-55.
