Today's the day the Cyclones have circled on their calendar... For the wrong reasons.
The 78-73 loss that ISU suffered to Texas Tech in Lubbock has proved to be a huge pain in the collective side of this year's team. Swap that loss out for a win, and Iowa State would be 7-2 and one game behind Kansas in the Big 12 right now. Unfortunately, the Jayhawks are currently 8-1 in the conference and ISU sits at 6-3, with the Red Raiders owning one of those three Cyclone setbacks.
Texas Tech comes into Hilton today fresh off their second Big 12 victory. The Red Raiders handled Kansas State in United Supermarkets Arena by a score of 64-47. It's safe to say the outlook for Bruce Weber's squad isn't nearly as bright as it was just a few weeks ago. The Wildcats have dropped like a rock in the conference standings.
Iowa State will be out for revenge today, and definitely won't be overlooking Tech like they did last time. With extra practice time this week following Big Monday's loss to Kansas, Fred should have the team primed and ready to defend their home court.
