Cyclones.com announced on Wednesday that Georges Niang has been invited and will participate in the Nike Basketball Academy this upcoming weekend in Santa Monica, California. Invites have been extended to 20 of the top collegiate players and 60 high school preps around the country.
Niang has been a frequent camper at these events as he made the rounds at the Nike Big Man Skills Academy and the Lebron James Skills Academy last summer. The returning all-American and first team all-Big 12 selection was likely among the top choices for this summer's hoops summit.
According to the release, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and many others will be working the academy in some fashion as coaches, mentors and perhaps even sparring partners so to speak.
The full list of participants hasn't been released yet, but this is yet another opportunity for Niang to showcase his talents and ability on the highest stage and in front of the best of the best. Coming off a stellar junior season, the honor is well deserved for the senior big man.
