The Opponent: Northern Iowa Panthers (0-0, 0-0)
Kick Off Time: 7 p.m. CDT
Location: NEW LOOK Jack Trice Stadium - Ames, Iowa
ISU Offense vs. UNI Defense: Advantage to ISU, slightly. The Cyclones' experience at quarterback and wide receiver should give them a leg up.
UNI Offense vs. ISU Defense: Even. Both units have question marks due to multiple newcomers.
Special Teams: Advantage to UNI. Northern Iowa kicker Michael Schmadeke is one of the best in FCS.
This UNI team isn't as scary as they've been before, but they're still one of the best programs in the Missouri Valley Conference. Meanwhile, Iowa State returns a ton of experience on the offensive side of the ball and has plugged in some key newcomers on defense.
I don't think this one will be a blowout, but ISU should be able to control the game. I look for the Cyclones to lead by 17 late in the fourth quarter, then Northern Iowa scores a late TD to make the score look closer than it really was.
Iowa State 27, Northern Iowa 17
