What to Know

Recap: COPPIN A FEEL, Iowa State Grabs a 20 Point Win - ISU defeated Coppin State 104-84 on Wednesday. Not the best defensive effort, but putting up 100+ is always impressive.

We're Talking Oklahoma - cylentbutdeadly thinks the Cyclones keep it close, but fall to Oklahoma in the end.

Two of the Big 12's Best Collide - Crimson and Cream Machine's Rich DeCray predicts the winner of tonight's game to be the one that plays better defense.

Iowa St.-Oklahoma Preview - ESPN points out that Buddy Hield leads a team that is deadly from beyond the 3-point line, while ISU has struggled to defend against teams that shoot the long ball.

Prediction

If I'm sticking with my gut from prior to the season, this game will be a rough outing for the Cyclones. As noted above in the ESPN preview, Iowa State struggles to stop teams from scoring from the outside. It just so happens that the Sooners are quite good in that department.

Oklahoma is a legit Final Four contender this season, and ISU traditionally struggles in Norman. Oklahoma's athletic department announced this game as a sellout, so the environment could be improved over what the Cyclones typically get in the Lloyd Noble Center. That may not be a bad thing if it keeps the players focused.

However, the Sooners are playing some amazing basketball right now and I think they'll control today's game from the start. I hope I'm wrong.
