The Indiana Pacers open up regular season play on Wednesday and Georges Niang will be on their roster. Sunday night, the Pacers announced their final roster cuts along with their completed 15 man roster. Thankfully, Niang was not one of the final cuts and will be in uniform Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks.

After being drafted in the 2nd round, there were still some doubts as to whether Niang would make the NBA roster. After signing a three-year deal with the Pacers, his roster situation started to look more promising. A strong preseason showing solidified his future role with the Pacers organization.

The former Cyclone could still see time in the NBA Developmental League this season and may not be active for every game, but it hasn’t stopped him from becoming an early fan favorite in Indianapolis much like he was in Ames.

During the Fan Jam event, Georges also showed off his shooting skills from long range while taking home the 3-point championship.

The Pacers will open up regular season play Wednesday night (6 p.m. CST) in Indianapolis against the Dallas Mavericks before traveling to play the Nets on Friday in Brooklyn. Niang’s first regular season match-up with his former coach, Fred Hoiberg, is Saturday night in Chicago.

You can catch the Pacers’ games on Fox Sports Indiana as well as by subscribing to NBA League Pass.
