Big 12 Power Rankings: Week 10

New, 1 comment

These rankings are based loosely on the actual outcome of games mixed with a heavy dose of personal bias. Argue at your own peril.

NCAA Football: Kansas at Oklahoma Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

1 | #12 Oklahoma Sooners – Record, 6-2 (5-0)

Last Week – Beat Kansas 56-3

Oklahoma has scored 122 points in their last two games, and probably would have scored even more had they not let off the gas in the fourth quarter Saturday during their annual beat-down of Kansas.

Let’s hope the Jayhawks tired them out some on a short week.

Next Three – @Iowa State (Thur), Baylor, @West Virginia

2 | #22 Oklahoma State Cowboys – Record, 6-2 (4-1)

Last Week – Beat West Virginia 37-20

The Cowboys are back in the rankings after defeating the Big 12’s best shot at making the College Football Playoffs in Stillwater.

Next Three – @K-State, Texas Tech, @TCU

3 | #14 West Virginia Mountaineers – Record, 6-1 (3-1)

Last Week – Lost to Oklahoma State

West Virginia looks to get back on track against Kansas this week after taking a mid-season tumble on the road, their first loss of the season. There is still an opportunity for the Mountaineers to earn their first Big 12 title in football, but a chance to play for a national championship was all but lost Saturday.

Next Three – Kansas, @Texas, Oklahoma

4 | #13 Baylor Bears – Record, 6-1 (3-1)

Last Week – Lost to Texas 35-34

Baylor deserves every “L” they get this season.

And many more.

Next Three – TCU, @Oklahoma, Kansas State

5 | Kansas State Wildcats– Record, 5-3 (3-2)

Last Week – Beat Iowa State 31-26

Retire already.

Next Three – Oklahoma State, @Baylor, Kansas

6 | Texas Tech Red Raiders – Record, 4-4 (2-3)

Last Week – Beat TCU 27-24

Holy guacamole, the Red Raiders not only won on the road, but seemingly shut down a supposed high-octane offense in the process!

Time to toss the tortillas, you penicillin using Lubbock-eers.

Next Three – Texas, @Oklahoma State, @Iowa State

7 | Texas Longhorns – Record, 4-4 (2-3)

Last Week – Beat Baylor 35-34

The up-and-down career of Charlie Strong extends itself some with a victory over the embattled Bears of Baylor.

Congratulations, Texas fans.

Next Three – @Texas Tech, West Virginia, @Kansas

8 | TCU Horned Frogs – Record, 4-4 (2-3)

Last Week – Lost to Texas Tech 27-24

I told you TCU was bad. You didn’t want to believe me, but if losing to Team Taco at home isn’t bad enough, only scoring 24 points against a defense that allowed 43.9 points per game before that should be downright embarrassing.

For shame, TCU. For shame.

Next Three – @Baylor, Oklahoma State, @Texas

9 | Iowa State Cyclones – Record, 1-7 (0-5)

Last Week – Lost to Kansas State 31-26

Four more games before The Process meets the off-season.

Next Three – Oklahoma, @Kansas, Texas Tech

10 | Kansas Jayhawks – Record 1-7 (0-5)

Last Weekend – Lost to Oklahoma 56-3

Something, something, something, something, basketball.

Next Three - @West Virginia, Iowa State, Texas
