Cyclone fans, the final game of the season is upon us.
It’s been a season of “almosts” and “what ifs.” But none of that seems to matter now. The Cyclones are playing their best ball of the season. Sure, they’re going to miss out on a bowl game, but right now that’s not what’s important.
What’s important is what Matt Campbell preached to all of us during the off-season: revitalizing the Iowa State program is a process, and we fans need to buy in and trust him. He wasn’t wrong. We’ve seen the major upside of what his brand of football can produce, as evidenced by close games against good teams this season along with last week’s beatdown of Texas Tech.
This team has taken major strides over the course of the year — from the loss to UNI all the way to the 66-10 win against the Red Raiders. This team has gone toe to toe with Oklahoma and took Oklahoma State and Baylor to the brink. They’ve shown improvement and have given us as a fan base hope for the future. Hope is something we haven’t had much of in a long time.
So now that the final game of the year is upon us, it’s time to give back in the best way we know how. PACK THE JACK. The attendance needs to better than what it was in the last few home games. If you’re on the fence about coming, get off the fence and buy a ticket. They’re cheap, and it will only help what could be a great Saturday in Ames.
This year’s senior class has had to make sacrifices, essentially giving up one season for Matt Campbell and his staff to lay the foundation of what Cyclone football is going to be for years to come. I, for one, want to thank them for that sacrifice and help ring in what could be some of the best football to ever come to Iowa State.
Let’s get out to Jack Trice Stadium and show this team our support. Make it loud, and let’s help the Cyclones get another win on Saturday.
See you all in Ames!
