Big 12 Power Rankings: Week 14

These rankings are based loosely on the actual outcome of games mixed with a heavy dose of personal bias. Argue at your own peril.

1. #7 Oklahoma Sooners – Record, 9-2 (8-0)

Last Week – Ate stuffing, sang Boomer Sooner

Oklahoma needs a lot of help (a LOT of help) to secure their second straight CFP berth. After the 2014 season, Ohio State was able to jump both TCU and Baylor, who shared the Big 12 title thanks to no conference championship game, after demolishing Wisconsin 59-0 in the B1G title game.

Not saying a two loss Oklahoma team, who is currently 8th in the latest CFP rankings, can achieve the same result in 2016, but under the right chaotic conditions, maybe?

What’s Next? – Bedlam, Sugar Bowl vs Auburn*

2. #10 Oklahoma State Cowboys – Record, 9-2 (7-1)

Last Week – Ate Stuffing, worked on their mullets

The Cowboys needs even more help if they wish to make their first CFP appearance. I’m not even going to try to explain.

What’s Next? – Bedlam, Russell Athletic Bowl vs Virginia Tech*

3. #19 West Virginia Mountaineers – Record, 9-2 (6-2)

Last Week – Humbled Iowa State

The Mountaineers came into Ames and exerted their will over the over-matched Cyclones who were hoping to go out on a three game winning streak. No riots were witnessed after the game.

What’s Next? –#FBU, Alamo Bowl vs USC*

4. Kansas State Wildcats– Record, 7-4 (5-3)

Last Week – Beat KU

Will Bill Snyder ever retire?

I respect the hell out of the man, but doesn’t he have some great-great-great grandchildren he can spend time with during his twilight years?

Won’t somebody think about the children?

What’s Next? – @TCU, Texas Bowl vs Texas A&M*

5. TCU Horned Frogs – Record, 6-5 (4-4)

Last Week – Allowed Tom Herman back into the Big 12...

Thanks, a lot, Patterson.

What’s Next? – K-State, Liberty Bowl vs Georgia*

6. Iowa State Cyclones – Record, 3-9 (2-7)

Last Week - Began preparing for 2017

The Cyclones may not have ended their season the way we fans wanted them to, but I guarantee the optimism will be even greater next August as we begin the cycle again.

What’s Next? – Trust the Process

7. Texas Tech Red Raiders – Record, 5-7 (3-6)

Last Week – Contributed to the continued downfall of a program deserving

Kliff’s job is likely safe for one more season.

After that?

What’s Next? – Collecting and storing tortillas for next season

8. Texas Longhorns – Record, 5-7 (3-6)

Last Week – Went without a head coach for all of two minutes

The hiring of Tom Herman was a shock to exactly no persons who follow Big 12 football.

If Herman is the coach everyone expects him to be, not only will Texas return to dominance, the entire conference could be lifted in the process. That’s not a bad thing.

What’s Next? – Welcome to the Tom Herman era, Longhorn fans

9. Kansas Jayhawks – Record 2-10 (1-8)

Last Week – Nobody likes sunflowers anyway

You can open your eyes now, Jayhawk fan. It’s finally over.

What’s Next? – A 13th straight conference basketball title, perhaps?
