Week 9 Recap
We had another winning week last week. Maybe we know what we are doing around here? Winning, duh.
That winning week kept us in the black for the year and boosted our bankroll to the highest it has been all season. We are back to earn some more paper this week.

Before the season began, a lot (OK maybe just one or two) of national pundits marked this as their "upset of the year." Fast forward eight games into the season and I don’t think you can consider Oklahoma beating Iowa State an upset anymore.
Iowa State fans will spend Thursday night reminiscing on another November night game in 2011 against a team from Oklahoma. As a four touchdown underdog, we all know what the Cyclones were able to do on that wonderful evening.
Unfortunately, instead of becoming a program-altering victory, the Cyclones quickly fell back into their familiar home in the cellar of the Big 12. Could this Thursday provide a boost to Campbell’s rebuilding effort? We certainly hope this program starts on an uptick sooner than later.
The Picks: Iowa State +21, OVER 70
The Bets: $22, $44
Texas (4-4) @ Texas Tech (4-4)
Saturday, 11 AM, FS1
Line: Texas -4
O/U: 81

Well, we got burned taking a historically high total last week with the Red Raiders. Another total in the 80s this week against the Longhorns has us second guessing. Since Charlie Strong took over the play-calling on defense, things have begun to look at least a little bit better on that side of the ball.
Texas Tech showed last week that they could win a low-scoring game. That win kept Kingsbury off the hot seat for now. A win over Texas would do wonders to his job security. The same could obviously be said for Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns.
Texas Tech will win this game straight up, but it won’t be quite as high-scoring as the experts out in the desert think it will be.
The Picks: Texas Tech +4, UNDER 81
The Bets: $44 each
TCU (4-4) @ Baylor (6-1)
Saturday, 2:30 PM, FOX
Line: Baylor -7.5
O/U: 69

With a total of 69, this game could really go either way. Baylor won’t be able to make a case for the College Football Playoff anymore and that is fine by me. Their out-of-conference schedule was putrid and their off-the-field antics have been even worse.
TCU has been far from impressive this season. Is Gary Patterson’s message getting stale in Fort Worth? He has a quarterback controversy on his hands, which is never a good sign eight games into the season.
Baylor and TCU have become a bit of a heated rivalry recently. Baylor gets back on the winning track at home this weekend.
The Picks: Baylor -7.5, UNDER 69
The Bets: $33 each
Oklahoma State (6-2) @ Kansas State (5-3)
Saturday, 2:30 PM, ABC
Line: KSU -2.5
O/U: 58.5

After watching both of these teams barely escape their respective match-ups with the Cyclones, I can’t say as though either one is a world-beater. Oklahoma State’s win over the Mountaineers was impressive, but the Wildcats also gave them a run for their money in Morgantown.
The Wildcats have held all of their opponents except for the high-flying Cyclones well below their average point total. They should do the same on Saturday.
For as unimpressive as they look, the Wildcats are still putting together a pretty nice season under the radar. Their three losses? Three away games to Stanford, Oklahoma and West Virginia. This one is at home.
The Picks: Kansas State -2.5, UNDER 58.5
The Bets: $44, $33
Kansas (1-7) @ West Virginia (6-1)
Saturday, 6 PM, ESPN2
Line: West Virginia -34.5
O/U: 55
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/7387111/141016036.jpg)
A five touchdown spread with a total just under eight touchdowns? That isn’t giving Kansas much respect, although it is probably more than they deserve.
Kansas has yet to play a road game closer than 36 points. With a big-time showdown looming with the lukewarm Cyclones on the horizon, it is easy to see the Jayhawks looking past the Mountaineers.
There is no "O" in Kansas literally and figuratively. We’ll take the Mountaineers and the under.
The Picks: West Virginia -34.5, UNDER 55
The Bets: $33 each
