Lazard Returning for his Senior Season

The star receiver will aim to help Iowa State return to a bowl game in 2017

It’s not often that we’ve had to worry about an Iowa State football player forgoing his senior season. There were rumors that Allen Lazard may do just that after a solid junior year, but the rumors weren’t that thick. Today those rumors were officially put to rest as Lazard announced that he would return for his senior season and not make the leap to the NFL for another year.

Lazard will help bolster an already deep rotation at wide receiver and will help Iowa State’s chances to reach a bowl game in 2017. This season Lazard caught 69 passes for 1,018 yards and 7 touchdowns. Lazard will have a chance to eclipse the 3,000 yard receiving mark for his career in 2017 as well as surpass Todd Blythe as the all-time leader in Iowa State history. He is also 15 touchdowns shy of being named the career leader in that category as well.
