Former Cyclone basketball star DeAndre Kane is walking home with heavier pockets tonight.
Overseas Elite defeated Team Colorado on Tuesday night to take home their second consecutive title in The Basketball Tournament, a winner-take-all bracket-style tournament featuring players from around the globe. Kane was a member of Overseas Elite, a team that also featured former college athletes DJ Kennedy, Kyle Fogg and Myck Kabongo.
The purse this year for the winning team was $2 million... And Kane will see a pretty big chunk of that. $174,000 to be exact.

In the championship game, Kane showcased the same strengths that he often flashed while playing in the cardinal and gold... Those strengths mainly involving strength itself. He used his big frame to bully his way to the basket for layups, tip-ins and rebounds and scored some timely buckets in the final five minutes of the game.

In addition to Kane’s payday, he also gave a big shout out to Naz Mitrou-Long earlier in the tournament when talking to his coach about Mitrou-Long’s huge shots against Oklahoma State back in 2013-14.
Big congrats to Kane! Hopefully we’ll see him in an NBA uniform in the future.
