Tailgating season is in full swing! Before every home football game, WRNL will toss you a lovely bone called the “Tailgate Preview” containing weekly nuggets including weather, food, drinks, games and a weekly tune to make your tailgate the best it can be. And who doesn’t love a good tailgate?
Baylor is in town on Saturday. Let’s show them them how things are done correctly, and no, I’m not talking about Title IX. Tailgating is the topic of conversation here of course! It’s going to be a great day, so let’s get down to business.
Weather: Cloudy and Cool
We aren’t going to have the sun beating right down on us this week, which is a good thing in my book. Last week got a little toasty inside the stadium. The high temperature of the day is going to be 69 degrees (nice) with a slight breeze coming through the north end zone.
Prime tailgate temperature will be in the upper 50s and kickoff will be around 62 degrees. Great weather for enjoying a game! Enjoy these temperatures now, because next time we gather to tailgate it will be colder — but we’ll worry about that in late October.
It may be the last tailgate some of you crazy fans will be willing to do what the fan is doing in the picture above. If you are fine with your image being shamed like our opponent, go ahead and get crazy. So get ready and bring plenty of tequila to enjoy the drink of the week!
Drink: Tequila Sunrise
I know a lot of you enjoyed those Jägerbombs. They are always a treat. This week, we are going to make things tasty! Tequila Sunrise! Inspired by one of our readers who sent in their drink of choice last week!

For those of you who are unaware on how to make these tasty drinks, here’s how. These drinks are also Cyclone colors if you’re into that sort of thing, which we know you’re all interested primarily in the booze. (Who are you kidding, you like the color.)
Now, the recipe holds back on the tequila, but we live in Iowa and we enjoy our alcohol. Pump up the ounces on that tequila and get in prime condition to compete in this week's game.
Food: Grilled Tailgate Burritos
Another morning tailgate, another tailgate breakfast food. Yes, the breakfast burrito. Everyone loves themselves a good breakfast burrito. Burritos are good thing for everyone’s taste. You can add as much condiments and meat as you like, or you can be the Baylor fan (boring) of the group and just go plain eggs.
If you are in search of a good grill burrito recipe, look no further. Fairly simple ingredients to prepare the night before to avoid cutting into your booze time. Don’t forget that cooking spray, and the leftovers can just be scrapped into the garbage later on for minimal clean up.
Make sure to toss in some mixed fruit as a side. You cannot go wrong with that. Don’t want mixed fruit? Get more booze for your side. There is no shame in that, this is tailgating after all!
Game: Corn Hole (Bags)
You aren’t from Iowa unless you have played this glorious game. Everyone loves it. It’s an early morning tailgate, so simple setup and scoring that’s easy to keep track of make this game appealing for the week. The grass lots should be dry enough to allow your playing surfaces to be up to par. I assume that most of you know the rules by now, but if you don’t, here you go.
Show up early enough and set up a tournament. Losing team has to take a shot of tequila. Might as well make it interesting! Besides, you should already have plenty for your Tequila Sunrises.
Oh, you want a drinking wrinkle added in? For every point you lose by in a round, take two drinks. Good luck with sobriety if you are not very good at corn hole.
Corn hole is a necessity not just for this tailgate. Every tailgate you attend should have corn hole. It’s practically a tailgate foul (this will be a thing) if you forget it.
Song: Just a couple Baylor favorites

Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines
