The first College Football Playoff poll was announced this evening. It is the main poll that the media will be using the rest of the season and it will determine who gets into the College Football Playoff. Iowa State came in ranked #15.

The playoff committee didn’t necessarily agree with the AP voters, and Iowa State can continue to prove itself this week. It’s the first time the Cyclones have been ranked in the new system.

Now begins the question of how far this Iowa State team can climb. They’ve proven they beat anyone in the conference. The next two weeks certainly will tell us more.

Also ranked in the poll is Oklahoma at #5, Oklahoma State at #11 and TCU at #8. All of which are tied with Iowa State atop the Big 12 standings. ISU will look to keep their winning ways going this weekend as they take on West Virginia.
