Rumors were swirling around since the weekend. What will happen with Matt Campbell in this coaching carousel. Well we no longer have to wonder. Matt Campbell has signed a contract extension that runs 6 more years.

Jamie Pollard made the announcement on Twitter earlier tonight.

Campbells salary increases from $2.1M to $3.5M which is a considerable,$6 but necessary pay raise in the eyes of much of the Cyclone faithful. Additionally his entire staff annual pay will increase by $1M. It’s safe to say Jamie Pollard got the green light to fork over some cash to keep this hype train rolling.

A statement released by Matt Campbell on Cyclones.com;

“I want to thank Jamie (Pollard) for respecting my desire to hold off these conversations until our regular season ended and also for being proactive in supporting the needs of my staff and team as we build a legacy at Iowa State University, the commitment that he and Iowa State have made to us. Including some exciting facility enhancements on the horizon has been critical to my vision for our team going forward.”

Iowa State finished the year 7-5 and fourth place in the Big 12 after being picked to finish 9th. The Cyclones now await their decision for their bowl game which should be made known this weekend.
