As Coach Prohm and everyone else alluded to, the game right before Christmas break ended up being an ugly one, as the kids were ready to head home for some egg nog, or whatever they drink in Nova Scotia. I hear it goes down nicely when you’ve been on a 3 day NyQuil and turkey bender like it appears the Cyclones have been.
Nick Weiler-Babb was his usual efficient self with 7 points, 6 assists, and 12 rebounds with just one turnover. Cam Lard led the team in scoring with 15 points to go along with his 6 rebounds and two blocks. Lindell Wigginton struggled a bit, shooting only 2-10 from the field and 0-3 from behind the arc. A game like this probably inevitable given his relative inexperience, but I wouldn’t expect it to carry over to the next game.
Overall, this was a “burn the tape game” that Steve Prohm will use to preach effort, intensity, and execution, but will probably not reference back to again this season.
Also worth mentioning, Prohm only had 7 guys to work with tonight after Hans Brace turned his ankle in practice yesterday. He’ll be reevaluated after Christmas, and is questionable for the conference opener against Kansas State.
