Darien Porter Commits To Iowa State

In-state receiver chooses Iowa State

The 2019 recruiting class is beginning to blow up and it got even better late Wednesday night.

Bettendorf wide receiver Darien Porter verbally committed to Iowa State. Rated as a 3-star recruit with an 85 composite rating via 247sports. Iowa State was Porter’s first offer and he was drawing major interest from Notre Dame, Iowa, and Minnesota.

Porter is an attractive target at 6-foot-4 and his speed and ability to get to the ball adds to that. Iowa State is making size at the receiver position a priority in the 2018 class, and is continuing the trend with the 2019 class. Porter displays similar traits to Allen Lazard especially in his ability to block on the outside.

Porter is the 4th commitment to the 2019 recruiting class in the last 10 days. This very well could be Matt Campbell’s highest rated recruiting class ever and it is off to a fast start. Porter is also the third wide receiver commit of the class. There is potential to add more with some big names still out there with Iowa State on their radar.
