How everyone felt all week leading up to the game:
And how we all felt waking up to tailgate at 5 AM (or earlier?) Friday morning:
There’s only one way to tailgate for a morning game.
Iowa State got on the board first, but Iowa countered with a long touchdown drive.
A relatively boring first half ended with Iowa taking the lead just before halftime.
After getting the stop they needed, ISU’s offense went nowhere, and Iowa took a 21-10 lead....
But 11 minutes later, Iowa State was up 31-21.
How did this happen!? Hakeem Butler and David Montgomery are not human beings, that’s how.
Iowa immediately countered with a touchdown... And then Jacob Park threw an interception deep in Cyclone territory. Thankfully the defense held Iowa to a field goal.
PARKBOMB TO BUTLER, CYCLONES UP 7.
AND THEN THE DEFENSE FORCED A 3 AND OUT.
Iowa State then stayed true to form, going nowhere and burning Iowa’s timeouts...
Iowa tied the game, forcing an overtime. Everyone knew what was coming next.
A dropped pass set up an ISU field goal, and a Nate Stanley touchdown pass delivered the final blow.
