Iowa State (for the most part) handled the Zips like a Big 12 team should.

Following an emotional home loss to the TOE, the Cyclones were looking to rebound against Akron.

And after the first quarter, which saw ISU take a 14-0 lead, it looked like they had rebounded.

Well, it did until the second quarter happened, at least.

By the way, didn’t it seem like that we’d seen that Allen Lazard touchdown catch before?

Despite 5 sacks, penalties and poor play by the secondary led to 2 Akron scores in the second quarter.

On top of that, the Cyclones could only turn a nice offensive drive and an Akron turnover into 2 field goals.

After stopping Akron on their first second half possession, Garret Owens missed a chip shot field goal.

From that point, however, all went well. A well-timed false start on Akron led to a punt, and minutes later Park hit Murdoch for a score.

A Joel Lanning interception would lead to another score.

And before you knew it, ISU was up 41-14.

With Akron taken care of, it’s time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the bye week.
