We thought this season would be full of tough learning moments. It has proven to be true. Iowa State has now dropped their second straight home game as the Cyclones fall to Texas in overtime 74-70.
Iowa State went back and forth with Texas for most of the first half, with Donovan Jackson finally breaking out of his slump. The Clones went into halftime knotted at 31. Iowa State would lead by as many as seven behind a monster effort from Cameron Lard in the second half. Unfortunately for Steve Prohm, Texas would claw their way back to tie the game late.
Iowa State would have their chance to win the game in regulation as Solomon Young rushed his shot and Nick Weiler-Babb had a shot at put back. From there the game would go into over time and that’s where Texas took control. Dylan Otsetkowski would hit a three late in the overtime period and the Longhorns did not look back. Iowa State is now 9-4 on the year and 0-2 to start Big 12 play.
Donovan Jackson scored 24 points and Cameron Lard would made his presence known with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Iowa State will travel to Oklahoma State on Saturday in hopes for their first Big 12 win.
