Fresh off Iowa State’s first Big 12 win against Baylor, the Cyclones were sent back down to earth in Fort Worth tonight with a 96-73 loss.
News broke in favor of Iowa State earlier this afternoon that TCU’s starting point guard Jaylen Fisher would miss the game and more with a knee injury. TCU did not miss a beat, going up by as many as 18 in the first half.
Iowa State’s defense was non existent as they allowed the Horned Frogs to run free and knock down shots from behind the arc. Things got worse as Lindell Wigginton sat most of the first half with two fouls and Donovan Jackson was virtually the whole offense for the Cyclones.
Iowa State would cut the lead to single digits early on in the second half but TCU proved to be a bit too much on the offensive end for Iowa State. Donovan Jackson led the way for the Cyclones with 19 points and hitting 4 shots from behind the arc. Lindell Wigginton overcame his slow first half to score 14 of his 16 in the second frame.
Iowa State will look to take a step forward on Saturday in Hilton as the 8th ranked Red Raiders come into Ames.
