Screw the Mega Millions, just follow my WRNL Betting the Big 12 picks!
I picked up two more victories last week, as the Red Raiders housed KU, and OU pulled away late against TCU. That puts me at 11 for 15 on the year, with $1,300,000 made in monopoly money…
All teams in the Big 12 are back to competition, as BYE weeks are done for the year.
Here are your bets for Week 8 of the Big 12 College Football Season
Baylor (4-3, 2-2) at #13 West Virginia (5-1, 3-1) | 6:00 P.M. on THURSDAY October 25th on FS1| West Virginia -14
The Mountaineers are coming off an embarrassing loss at the hand of the Cyclones, and had a much-needed bye week to heal the wounds. They have just what the doctor ordered – Baylor. The Bears have a solid 4-3 record, but haven’t played anyone of stature.
This game is played on Thursday, and should be a shootout. There is no way West Virginia loses, but it’s the 14 points that scares me. If you put a gun to my head, I’d pick the Mountaineers, but my confidence level is low.
Texas Tech (5-2, 3-1) at Iowa State (3-3, 2-2) | 11:00 A.M. on Saturday October 27th on ESPN2| Iowa State -4
This will be one of the best games of the week, as Iowa State welcomes the Red hot Raiders to town for Homecoming! Texas Tech already has road wins at TCU and Oklahoma State, but this Iowa State team is different – they don’t beat themselves. Brock Purdy is on fire, and there is no defense better in the Big 12 than the Cyclones.
You will have to read my preview later this week for my prediction, but if I were a betting man, I would lean towards the Cyclones in this one…

Kansas State (3-4, 1-3) at #8 Oklahoma (6-1, 3-1) | 2:30 P.M. on FOX | Oklahoma -23.5
I pity anybody remaining on the Sooners schedule, as the fighting Lincoln Riley’s are throwing caution to the wind in an attempt to get as many style points moving forward.
They have just the right team in front of them – a struggling K-State squad that does not match up well against them. The wildcats’ ground-it-out rushing attack and fundamental defense finally came to fruition in a win against Oklahoma State two weeks ago, but this OU offense will overpower them.
You can’t give me enough points for OU in this one. I’ll take the Sooners and the minus-23.5 points in this one.
My Top TWO BEST BETS of the Week
TCU (3-4, 1-3) at Kansas (2-5, 0-4) | 2:00 P.M. on FS1 | TCU -15.5
Oh boy, the Horned Frogs are in a downward spiral, and have hit the world’s best slumpbuster at a great time. Kansas has at least been competent this year, and I could see them make this a game.
TCU’s offense has struggled, but they recently switched over to their backup QB against OU and the results were positive. KU just fired their offensive coordinator (I don’t know why), and played a decent game versus Texas Tech last week, its just their defense can’t stop anybody.
This game will be low-scoring, and KU could have an early lead. Give me TCU with the win, but KU with the cover.
Kansas is getting 15.5 points – I’ll take that for a $100k bet.
#6 Texas (6-1, 4-0) at Oklahoma State (4-3, 1-3) | 7:00 P.M. on ABC | Texas -3
That’s right – the Longhorns are ranked #6 in the country folks. And they have a huge test in front of them this weekend in Boone Pickens land. OSU is coming off a much-needed bye week after two tough losses, and have an identity crisis on offense.
Texas’s starting quarterback Sam Ehlinger is questionable to play with a first-degree shoulder sprain, and could be the difference between a good and a great Longhorn team. Backup Shane Buechele is competent, but not on the same level as Ehlinger.
This is the epitome of a trap game, and I could see the Pokes pulling out the upset. Tough pick here, but I think Texas wins the game, so in that case I’ll take the 3 points.
That means I’ll take Texas MINUS -3 for $100k please.
