Betting the Big 12: Week 10

ISU is tops in league against the spread.

Went 1 for 2 on picks last week, as cellar-dweller Kansas somehow beat TCU (and covered), and Texas sleepwalked their way into Stillwater and lost to OSU.

All in all, after 9 weeks, I am an impressive 12 for 16 on picks, and still plus $1.3M.

The Cyclones are the best in the conference when it comes to beating Vegas, as they are 5-2 against-the-spread, and have beaten Vegas odds by an average of 6.3 points per game.

Here are your Bets for Week 10 of the Big 12 College Football Season

Iowa State (4-3, 3-2) at Kansas (3-5, 1-4) | 11:00 A.M. on FSN | Iowa State -14.5

Iowa State is the hottest team in the conference, and Kansas has somehow won three games (as many victories as previous THREE years combined!) The Jayhawks upset TCU last week, and have been surprisingly competent thus far.

This one is in Lawrence, but I don’t see any way Iowa State losing this game. The spread on the other hand could go either way. Put a gun to my head, and I lean towards ISU.

#12 West Virginia (6-1, 4-1) at #15 Texas (6-2, 4-1) | 2:30 P.M. on FOX | Texas -2

Back-to-back tough foes for Texas, as they come off their first loss in six weeks to Okie State. West Virginia got back on track last week, but will hit a brick wall against this Longhorn defense. This will be one of the best games of the week, and I could see either team winning.

Tom Herman typically gets his boys to play up to competition, and the fact they are home is a HUGE positive. I think it’ll be a close game, probably lower scoring, but give me Texas and the MINUS-3.

#7 Oklahoma (7-1, 4-1) at Texas Tech (5-3, 3-2) | 7:00 P.M. on ABC | Oklahoma -11.5

This game will be a shootout, as both teams put up more points than the Mean Machine in Space Jam. In fact, this contest combined for 125 points in 2016. Now while this one won’t be quite as out of control, look for Oklahoma to create as many style points as possible for the College Football Playoff committee.

I was impressed with Tech’s resolve on the road last week - they are a solid program. I see OU taking home the victory, but the Red Raiders covering 11.5 points.

My Top TWO BEST BETS of the Week

Kansas State (3-5, 1-4) at TCU (3-5, 1-4) | 2:30 P.M. on FS1 |TCU -8

Both of these teams are coming off embarrassing losses, and neither has a pulse when it comes to their offenses. This game will be low-scoring, and a snooze-fest on top of it. TCU needs to find their quarterback, and Kansas State is not the Kansas State of old.

Either way, I think Bill Snyder and company take care of business covering their spreads like they always do. It wouldn’t surprise me if they win the game either.

I’ll take K-State PLUS-8 for $150k.

Oklahoma State (5-3, 2-3) at Baylor (4-4, 2-3) | 11:00 A.M. on FS1| Okie State -8

Last week Baylor got their ass handed to them by WVU, trailing at halftime with an embarrassing deficit of 41-0. While Oklahoma State shocked the world with an upset at home beating the Longhorns and have saved their unremarkable season.

Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer is questionable to play, and would be a big difference maker, but the better team clearly is Mike Gundy’s Pokes.

I’ll take OSU and swallow the 8 points for $100k
