Betting the Big 12: Week 12

I am En Fuego With My Picks!

NCAA Football: Iowa State at Texas
Bring On TEXAS!
Brendan Maloney-USA TODAY Sports

There is a new sheriff in town, and he is $500k RICHER! I upped the ante last week, and came home with a boat load of cash to my name.

Oklahoma State nearly pulled off the upset against in-state rival OU, and West Virginia took care of business against lowly TCU in a blowout.

That puts my picks at an impressive 15 FOR 20 on the year, with upwards of $1.8MM earned on the year. If you haven’t jumped on the train by now, well there aren’t many seats left

Here are your Bets for Week 12 of the Big 12 College Football Season

Kansas (3-7, 1-6) at #6 Oklahoma (9-1, 6-1) | 6:30 P.M. on FOX | Oklahoma -36.5

This is the average score over last four seasons - Oklahoma 51, Kansas 4. This game will be over by the first bathroom break. OU needs to put up style points and impress the College Football Playoff committee. I don’t see them slowing down.

I’ll take OU running away with it.

#22 Iowa State (6-3, 5-2) at #19 Texas (7-3, 5-2) | 7:00 P.M. on Longhorn Network (thanks a lot Bevo) | Texas -3

This spread is right where it should be, as on a neutral site it’s a pick em, but with UT at home they gain the field goal edge.

This will be one of the best games of the Big 12 season, and it is truly a pity its not on National Television. There is not a hotter team in the COUNTRY right now than Brock Purdy-led ISU, yet Texas is one program that has pissed in Campbell’s cheerios since he landed in Ames.

Last years game was 17-7, and I see another lower-scoring affair. Either way, I’ll attend my first game in Austin, TX, and will try to drink 6th Avenue dry after another Cyclone win.

I’ll take ISU and the Three Fantastic Points, all the way to the Big 12 Conference Championship Game!

Texas Tech (5-5, 3-4) at Kansas State (4-6, 2-5) | 2:30 P.M. on ESPNU | Texas Tech -6.5

Bill Snyder is on the verge of retirement, resignation, or a nursing home. If I were to pick one – it would probably be the last, as the old man just signed an extension that puts him on the K-State sidelines until 2022 (at the ripe old age of 83).

39-year old Kliff Klingsbury would be a glorified grandchild to Mr. Snyder, and is putting together a quietly successful season in Lubbock. The Red Raiders do have a Quarterback quandary, but it shouldn’t matter against these Wildcats.

I’ll take Texas Tech all day MINUS-6.5 points.

My Top TWO BEST BETS of the Week

#9 West Virginia (8-1, 6-1) at Oklahoma State (5-5, 2-5) | 2:30 P.M. on ABC | West Virginia -5.5

This one is a shootout. Neither team knows what the term defense means, and Okie State usually comes to play in Boone Pickens’ house.

Will Grier is fighting for West Virginia’s relevancy in the Big 12, and need to pull off this win if they want a shot at a Big 12 Championship. Oklahoma State, on the other hand, is a true Jekyll and Hyde story – and are playing to clinch a bowl, with TCU left on their schedule.

Multiple Fist Bumps Will be Had in this Game!

Not enough points for the Mountaineers. This game should be at least a Touchdown, if not 10 points.

I’ll take WVU and swallow the 5.5 points for $250k.

TCU (3-7, 1-6) at Baylor (5-5, 3-4) | 11:00 A.M. on FS1 | Baylor -2

Is there a team that has under-performed more than Gary Patterson’s TCU squad? The Horned Frogs have been ravaged by injuries and the offense is as inept as a swimming pool in December.

On the other hand, I was quite impressed by Baylor’s resolve and physicality versus ISU last week. They have a good quarterback in Charlie Brewer, and now that he is not suspended for the first half, I give the odds of Baylor covering very high.

I’m loading up big. Give me Baylor MINUS-2 for Half-A-Mill = $500,000
