We took a few steps back last week. After going 6 for 8 in the last four weeks, I had my first oh-fer, losing a boatload of house money.
Baylor dropped an egg, losing to a depleted and reeling TCU squad, and Okie State rallied back to win in phenomenal fashion versus West Virginia.
Don’t worry though, we are still double the funds we started with.
That’s the best thing about gambling – we get to start over fresh this week.
Here are your Bets for Week 12 of the Big 12 College Football Season
#11 Texas (8-3, 6-2) at Kansas (3-8, 1-7) | 11:00 A.M. on FS1 on FRIDAY November 23rd | Texas -15
Kansas is playing its last game for fired coach David Beatty and all Texas has to do to play in the Big 12 Championship game is to win this matchup.
Who knows where the Longhorns’ heads will be, as they could be looking ahead to OU. Kansas on the other hand could make things interesting.
Texas wins, but the spread could be interesting. I’m still taking Texas MINUS-15, but my confidence level is a 3 out of 10.
#6 Oklahoma (10-1, 7-1) at #12 West Virginia (8-2, 6-2) | 7:00 P.M. on ESPN on Friday, November 23rd| Oklahoma -1.5
West Virginia has the opportunity to turn the tables and shake up the Conference Championship Game. If they win they hold the tie-breaker and will knock OU out of CFB playoff contention. For the Big 12’s sake they need a Sooner victory.
With that being said, this one will be full of points, as OU’s firing of DC Mike Stoops has not changed a thing. West Virginia just lost a heartbreaker to OSU last week, and are still seen as a step down to the likes of Texas and Oklahoma.
The over/under is an abominable 81.5, but the spread might as well be a pick-em. I’ll take Oklahoma, but not so convincingly.

Baylor (5-6, 3-5) at Texas Tech (5-6, 3-5) | 11:00 A.M. on FS1 on SATURDAY November 24th | Texas Tech -6.5
What in the hell happened to both of these teams last week? Both played below their expectations, with Baylor losing to TCU at home, and Tech getting dominated at the hands of Kansas State.
Now both are desperate to clinch a bowl, and this is a loser-leaves-town game. I would have to give Tech the upper hand with playing at home, but I could see it going either way.
If there is one thing I’ve noticed about Kliff Kingsbury teams, they always start off the season hot, and then limp their way to the end of the season.
I think the better focused and better coached team is Baylor, and therefore am picking them to cover.
My Top TWO BEST BETS of the Week
Kansas State (5-6, 3-5) at #25 Iowa State (6-4, 5-3) | 6:00 P.M. on FS1 on SATURDAY November 24th| Iowa State -13.5
Whatd’ya know – Kansas State has won two straight games and now has a chance to make a freakin’ bowl game. Their season was all but lost, but after victories against KU and Taco Tech maybe Bill Snyder has turned things around.
While Iowa State got their BUTTS handed to them last week against Texas, they need to right the ship and get back on track.
This matchup is always close no matter how good either team is, and this year will be no different.
I’ll take K-State and the 13.5 points for $150k.
Oklahoma State (6-5, 3-5) at TCU (5-6, 3-5) | 7:00 P.M. on FOX on SATURDAY November 24th | Oklahoma State -5
Well, well, well. The fighting Mullets strike again!
Mike Gundy and his pals now have two of the most impressive victories in the Big 12, following their early-season Texas victory with a win against WVU last week.
With that victory the Pokes clinched a bowl, while TCU is playing for their own. The whole nation is flabbergasted at only a 5-point spread, but I am certainly not.
TCU has a world-class defense but may be bringing in a brand-new quarterback. That makes all the difference for me, and I’ll swallow the 5 points and take the Cowboys for $150k.
