Big 12 Power Rankings: Holding Them Off Edition

Let’s get right to it:

1. Oklahoma (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) (Last Week: 1) - The Sooners handled Texas Tech last week in a typical Big 12 shootout. They will likely take care of business this weekend, but conventional wisdom can always be thrown out for in-state rivalry games.

2. West Virginia (7-1, 5-1 Big 12) (Last Week: 2) - Huge win for the Mountaineers against Texas last week - it puts them in control of their own destiny. Now for a few tune-up games before their looming date with Oklahoma on 11/23.

3. Iowa State (5-3, 4-2 Big 12) (Last Week: 4) - The Cyclones proved October was no fluke by handling Kansas on the road. This week is a trap game in every sense, as an upstart Baylor team heads to Ames looking to shake things up.

4. Texas (6-3, 4-2 Big 12) (Last Week: 3) - Tough loss for the Longhorns against West Virginia, marking their second consecutive defeat. Huge game this week in Lubbock.

5. Texas Tech (5-4, 3-3 Big 12) (Last Week: 5) - Tech couldn’t quite hang in there with the Sooners, but it was close. Won’t be a shocker if they are able to hold serve at home this week.

7. Oklahoma State (5-4, 2-4 Big 12) (Last Week: 6) - Will the real Oklahoma State please stand up? Was the win against Texas a fluke? We’ll find out this weekend when we see if the Pokes can hang with Oklahoma.

8. TCU (4-5, 2-4 Big 12) (Last Week: 10) - The Frogs beat Kansas State in a real 14-13 barnburner last week. This week in Morgantown will likely be an embarrasing one for Gary Patterson.

9. Kansas (3-6, 1-5 Big 12) (Last Week: 9) - The Jayhawks were embarrassed both on the field and in the stands last week against Iowa State. But hey, look, they’re not ranked at the bottom!

10. Kansas State (3-6, 1-5 Big 12) (Last Week: 8) - The Wildcats host Kansas this week. Someone has to actually win this game, right?
