Easton Dean
Easton Dean comes to Iowa State has a three-star prospect out of Labette County High School in Altamont, KS. Dean is currently ranked as the #18 dual-threat quarterback in the country, and the #4 player in Kansas with a 0.8668 composite rating on 247 Sports. He also held offer an offer from Iowa, and fielded interest from Georgia and Kansas State.
He’s undeniably a talented quarterback, but without a doubt, the most exciting parts about Easton Dean are his 6’6” 220 lb frame and athleticism. He comes from an air raid system in high school, but has shown to be an effective scrambler and runner. Dean’s size and skill set make him a great fit in Iowa State’s scheme.
The interest from Kansas State isn’t surprising, as Dean is extremely similar to former K-State quarterback Collin Klein in both size and play-style. Both are athletic, physical runners that are extremely difficult to bring down, and can make throws outside the pocket. However, Dean is unquestionably a more polished passer now than Klein was at this point in his career.
The Iowa State coaching staff found a good one here, and have a great foundation to build a quarterback on with Dean.
