All morning, the anticipation built for the showdown against Trae Young and the Sooners. Lindell Wigginton had other plans on who was the better freshman on Saturday, as Iowa State downed Oklahoma 88-80.

The Cyclone defense smothered Trae Young in the first half holding him to 7 points before the break. The Cyclones would go up by as much as 17, and Lindell Wigginton put the Cyclones on his back. Solomon Young would also have a big first half, as he scored six of the first eight for the Cyclones. He was also coming down with crucial rebounds that kept Cyclone possessions alive.
Iowa State would go into half with a 45-35 lead. The Sooners would come roaring back as Trae Young finally got things rolling, scoring 15 of his 22 points in the second half. The Sooners would eventually tie and things got tense in Hilton as the Cyclones couldn’t buy a bucket for a large stretch in the second half.
Finally, Donovan Jackson would get room in the corner on a pass from Cameron Lard and would put the Cyclones up 3 late. Iowa State would get the ball right back, and Lindell Wigginton iced the game with another 3 pointer.
Lindell Wigginton scored 26 on the afternoon while Cameron Lard and Donovan Jackson would ad 19 a piece in the effort. Solomon Young 11 points and 4 rebounds on the afternoon. Iowa State will now host Kansas Tuesday night at 6pm. You can watch the game on ESPN2.
