If that wasn’t the epitome of a Kansas game, then I don’t know what is. The Cyclones were in it from start to finish, but couldn’t get stops down the stretch. The refs didn’t help, but they certainly weren’t the reason for the loss. The defense’s inability to get stops was the main reason for loss, but the offense also had several droughts throughout the game. Udoka Azukeuike led the way for the Jayhawks with 19 points, Malik Newman had 17, and Lagerald Vick rounded it out with 16 points. Kansas connected on 9 three pointers out of their 26 attempts. The Cyclones outshot the Jayhawks, ISU was 49.2% from the field and KU shot an elite 48.4%.
Cam Lard had another terrific game with 19 points on 7/11 shooting. Lard also hauled in 11 rebounds. Zoran Talley Jr. impressed once again on both sides of the ball, he had 15 points on 7-11 shooting. Nick Weiler-Babb returned to the court and had a quiet 14 point, 8 assist, no turnover performance. Wigginton had a pedestrian 12 point game on 3 of 12 shooting. Solomon Young kept up his good stretch, with 12 points and 7 rebounds. One player who clearly wasn’t himself tonight was Donovan Jackson, he only had 3 points on 9 attempts and only connected on 1 of 6 three pointers.
Next up for the Cyclones is a trip to Manhattan on Saturday to take on Kansas State. Tipoff is at noon.
If you live in the area, come to Whiskey River in Ankeny and watch the game with us and the Cyclone Fanatic crew. It’s going to be a great event to bring together your two favorite Cyclone blogs!
