Cyclones Fall 68-64 to Texas in Season Finale

A frustrating end to a frustrating season.

NCAA Basketball: Big 12 Conference Tournament-Texas vs Iowa State Amy Kontras-USA TODAY Sports

After losing eight of their final nine regular season games, the Cyclones wanted to finish the season with a strong tourney run to give them some momentum heading into next season. Unfortunately, turnovers continued to be this team’s biggest bugaboo, even on a night when Wigginton, Talley, and Lard all had very good nights. Wigginton led the team with 20 points and 8 rebounds, but his near double digit turnovers erased a good portion of his contributions on offense. Cyclone fans can certainly expect that to clean up a bit heading into next season. Cam Lard returned to solid form, posting 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Talley finished with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.

We all wish Donovan Jackson could have been given a more fitting final season and final game, but the departing senior finished the night with only 8 points on 3-8 shooting.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be reviewing this past season, and taking a look at next season’s highly anticipated roster.
