New, 18 comments

It definitely should have ended better.

The 2015 Iowa State and Kansas State was the final nail in the coffin for Paul Rhoads. Though Jamie Pollard has gone on record to say it wasn’t what cost him his job, this tragic loss certainly didn’t help anything.

Iowa State would take a 35-14 lead into halftime down in Manhattan, Kansas. What would happen next would burn the soul for many Cyclone fans forever. Iowa State suffered one of the most epic second half meltdowns ever seen.

Kansas State would score 24 unanswered points, while Iowa State fumbled FOUR times on their final five possessions including one damning fumble by Cyclone legend Joel Lanning that sent Kansas State up for the game winning field goal.

All this, from this painful memory, led us to Matt Campbell. So, there’s your first silver lining from this gigantic list of pain and misery.
