After originally being drafted by the Indiana Pacers 50th overall in the 2016 draft, Niang was waived and then picked up by the Golden State Warriors G-League roster, and then signed to a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz in January, playing for their G-league team in Salt Lake City.
Niang made the most of it - averaging a team-high 19.7 points per game, and being named to All-NBA G League First Team.
The former ISU fan favorite has turned it on in summer league and forced the Jazz franchise to make him a long-term commitment.
I can’t think of anyone more well deserved than this guy. Congrats Georges!
