Iowa State fans will have to wait one more week to see the Cyclones in action after their game against South Dakota State was canceled due to extreme weather.

Less than five minutes of the game were played before lightning in the area halted play. Iowa State led 7-0 thanks to a 55-yard touchdown from Kyle Kempt to Deshaunte Jones. The delay lasted two-and-a-half hours before officials finally made the call to cancel it.

As there are no plans to reschedule as of now, the Cyclones will open their season next weekend at Iowa. The Hawkeyes defeated Northern Illinois, 33-7, to open their season. The game will be broadcast on FOX at 4pm (CST).

Iowa State’s game wasn’t the only game canceled tonight as the Nebraska-Akron game suffered the same fate.
