Hate Week, which was filled with the usual unadulterated internet hate, reached its peak Saturday afternoon.
As usual, many Cyclone fans we brave enough to venture to Iowa City.
Honestly, everyone was relieved to finally have Cyclone football to watch again.
The Cyclone defense flexed early, stopping the Hawkeyes on their first drive.
The Cyclone offense would light it up through the air, marching all the way to the Iowa one yard line.
Only to have the drive stall due to a false start on 4th and goal, which led to a field goal.
After that drive, the Cyclone offense vanished.
And despite the defense refusing to let the game get away from them,
Mike Rose coming out of nowhere to dominate the game,
Iowa State’s defensive line not letting anyone pass,
and Nate Stanley being unable to hit open receivers for 5 yard gains,
Iowa State’s offense could do absolutely nothing.
This was thanks in large part to the play of the offensive line.
Speaking of trash, here’s a recap of Corey Dunn’s afternoon.
Eventually, the lack of offense broke the defense.
And the Cyclones lost to Iowa for the 4th year in a row.
At least this year’s ¡El Assico! was fun to watch.
Up next? Oklahoma.
