While Iowa State laid an egg in Iowa Chitty, I totally redeemed myself, going 2 for 3 on main bets, nailing my hard-core lock of Tulsa covering 22 points against Texas. That victory gave me $150 thousand of fake monopoly money, while the Vampire got slaughtered by Mississippi State, and I barely held on for UCLA covering their 29 points given to Oklahoma.
All in all, we are positive on the year (PLUS $100k), and I am 3 for 6 after two weeks.
Here are your bets for Week 3 of the Big 12 College Football Season
Rutgers (1-1, 0-1) at Kansas (0-2, 0-0) at | 11:00 A.M. (They don’t deserve TV) | Kansas -3
These two programs were made for each other. For more info on this dumpster dive of a matchup, read here.
I don’t want to waste any more of your time, as two inferior bottom dwellers embrace the suck together. If I had a chance to bet for neither, I would. Do me a favor, and always bet against KU.
#17 Boise State (2-0, 0-0) at #24 Oklahoma State (2-0, 0-0) | 2:30 P.M on ESPN | OSU -3.5
Similar thoughts on this one to the WVU/NC State matchup. Seems like a trap game, but just too much offensive fire-power for the fighting Mike Gundy Mullets. Should be a good game though.

UTSA (0-2, 0-0) at Kansas State (1-1, 0-0) | 3:00 P.M. | KSU -21.5
Wow did Bill Snyder and his Wildcats get trounced last week versus SEC middle-of-the-pack Mississippi State. UTSA lost to Baylor by 17, but showed glimpses, pulling within a touchdown in the fourth quarter. K-State is usually money in the bank in Vegas land, but this line is just too high. In fact, in the first two games, the Wildcats have lost against the spread by an average of 17.5 points. OUCH
Give me KSU with the win, but the fighting Roadrunners to cover.
Houston (2-0, 0-0) at Texas Tech (1-1, 0-0) | 3:15 P.M. on FOX | TTU -2.5
The Cougars are quietly a solid program year in and year out, and this season is no different. They come off a win over preseason darling Arizona, and have a high-power offense. Same for Tech, as they beat Lamar last week by a score of 77-0.
I see another video-game like score, and would take the OVER of 69 points all day. As far as spread goes, I think the home field advantage gives Tech the slight edge to cover.
#4 Ohio State (2-0, 1-0) at #15 TCU (2-0, 0-0) | 7:00 P.M. on ABC | TCU +12.5
One of the key matchups of the week, as the Big 12 has the opportunity for bragging rights against their Big Ten brethren, with TCU playing an Urban-Meyer-less OSU squad. From the outside looking in, it appears this line is quite high, but Ohio State has slobber-knocked its first two opponents, winning by a margin of 129-34. If TCU and their vaunted 4-2-5 defense can hold their own, the viewers are in for a prime-time showdown.
I foresee a Buckeye victory, but TCU is able to cover the points.
#22 USC (1-1, 0-1) at Texas (1-1, 0-0) | 7:00 P.M. on FOX| Texas -3.5
This was one of the best games last season, but both teams are coming off hard times. Texas struggled to beat Tulsa, and USC scored its fewest points in two decades, in a 17-3 loss to Stanford. The fact the Longhorns are home is a huge advantage, and Tom Herman usually has his boys ready to play against better competition.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and take the 3.5 points and a Texas Victory. Matthew McConaughey will be humming all the way to 6th street.
My top THREE BEST BETS of the week
Duke (2-0, 0-0) at Baylor (2-0, 0-0) | 2:30 P.M. | Baylor -2
Known more for its basketball, the Blue Devils football team has impressed thus far, coming off a victory over Northwestern on the road. Home field advantage in Waco, TX is the equivalent of a douchebag college kid walking into a townie bar, so in that case I’m leaning towards Duke in this one.
DUKE +2 for $50k. Because FBU.
#5 Oklahoma (2-0, 0-0) at Iowa State (0-1, 0-0) | 11:00 A.M. on ABC | Iowa State +17.5
Shades of 2017 are already spinning in Coach Lincoln Riley’s head. What will he see against Iowa State and their ever-dangerous backup quarterback? It would be hard-pressed for me to say the Cyclones win this game, but beating the spread is a no-brainer.
In Campbell’s career at ISU, he is an unprecedented 18-8 against the spread. And Iowa State didn’t lose a single game last year by more than 10 points.
If I could unload a dump-truck load of cash in Vegas I would do it, but I’m just a banker/farmer from Iowa. Haha.
I’m going to put down $400k for Iowa State to cover the 17.5. You will have to read later in the week on my outcome for the game…
