Iowa State was presented an opportunity to assert themselves in the Big 12, and did so by obliterating Kansas, 77-60.

Iowa State and Kansas both started the game flat. Both teams were scoreless in the first few minutes of the game, but Marial Shayok would recieve a heck of a pass from Michael Jacobsen to lift the lid off the basket and get thinkgs cooking.

Speaking of Michael Jacobson, his defense was huge in the first half, holding Kansas’ leading scorer Dedric Lawson to 3 points in the first half. Iowa State would lead 36-32 at the break. Marial Shayok led the way for Iowa State with 13 points.

The Cyclones would come out firing in the second half and start to assert their dominance. Tyrese Haliburton would make play after play and show us all why he will be a fan favorite for many years to come.

Marial Shayok would catch fire in the second half with a few key three pointers as Iowa State would continue to take it to Kansas.

Iowa State is officially back and so is Hilton Magic. Marial Shayok led the way for the Cyclones with 24 points. Tyrese Haliburton added in 14 points of his own as well as a mixture of big time plays.

Iowa State will now head to Waco to take on Baylor on Tuesday. Stay tuned to WRNL for more coverage of this big time win.
