In a very eventful day for Iowa State football, we saw David Montgomery declare for the NFL draft earlier today. Now Hakeem Butler has made his intentions known that he will forgoe his last season of eligibility to enter into the NFL Draft.
“It was a very tough decision to move on to the next level and just leave behind all my friends and knowing I could have spent another year with them or played another year in college, It’s tough. It’s time to get into the real world and be a man I guess.” Butler told Tommy Birch earlier tonight.
Butler finished his career with 110 receptions for 2,149 yards and 18 touchdowns in 37 games in the Cyclone uniform. His 2,149 receiving yards ranks fourth in school history and his 110 career receptions ranks 14th.
Hakeem Butler will get a very close look and many sites already project him to potentially be a first round pick. Many NFL teams look for his skill set every year. We want to wish Hakeem all the best in the world and look forward to seeing him on Sundays.
